What is HBO?

Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) is a safe and effective medical procedure in which the patient breathes 100% oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressure. The treatment is given in a specially designed hyperbaric oxygen chamber. This increased pressure provides more oxygen to the body. Greater amounts of oxygen are dissolved into the bloodstream, than is possible under normal atmospheric conditions, which in turn has a significant effect on damaged tissue, and promotes healing.

The amount of Oxygen dissolved in the blood alone can be sufficient to support life in the absence of red blood cells

Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment is now provided in Cyprus in the modern clinic of “OXYGEN CENTRE”.

AUTISM AND CEREBRAL PALSY FOR CHILDREN

Under the supervision of a Specialist Pediatrician, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is used in the treatment of Autism and Cerebral Palsy. This is done using a low pressure of 1.5ATA (24 ft) for 70 minutes. Both child and parent can be together in the chamber for the duration of the treatment. A full mask or a hood may be used for the oxygen supply. Relaxing music can be played inside the chamber for the duration of the treatment. Fluids (water or milk) may be taken into the chamber. Safe toys are also allowed.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is safe and painless. As the chamber is being pressurized you may
feel fullness in your ears. This is very similar to the feeling you experience when you are in an airplane or elevator.

Medical staff in attendance during each treatment session explains how to clear your ears, or equalize the pressure.
Patients are generally treated once a day, but sometimes may require therapy twice a day.
Normal treatment days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The patient breathes 100% Oxygen for the prescribed amount of time, usually 60 to 90 minutes.

A polarized light through colored glass filters of the seven colors of the spectrum. The wavelength range from 480nm to 3400nm.
